Radio calisthenics is a short morning workout with music and instructions. In many Chinese schools, students do it together outside or in the gym to start the day with energy.
Back in elementary school, I always felt like the school was full of strange mechanisms—if you pressed the right button, something unbelievable would happen: explosions, giant robots, that kind of thing. During morning exercises, we used to sneak away and wander around the school instead. I also remember the rumor that during the “turn your body” move in the radio calisthenics, you could sneak a glance at your crush.
